Description

The Lowrance Halo 20+ is a compact 20-inch dome radar built for coastal, bay, and fishing boats that need clear target detection at short, mid, and long range. It pushes out to 36 nautical miles of maximum range while keeping unrivaled close-in performance, picking up nearby vessels, buoys, and weather cells where it matters most. Anglers running inshore and offshore use it to track other boats and bird activity, while cruisers rely on it for collision avoidance in crowded harbors. As an FFL dealer that also stocks a full line of marine electronics, we carry this dome alongside the mounts and cabling needed to complete an install.

This dome runs pulse compression radar with VelocityTrack Doppler technology and beam sharpening, which color-codes targets by whether they are closing or moving away. Rotation reaches up to 60 revolutions per minute at ranges under 1.5 nautical miles, so close-quarters returns update almost in real time. The horizontal beam width is 4.9 degrees nominal at -3dB, with 2.5 degrees of target separation, and minimum detection range drops to roughly 50 meters. Target tracking handles up to 10 plotted targets, or 20 in dual range mode, and operating modes cover Harbour, Offshore, Weather, Bird, and Dual Range. Power draw is 20 watts typical and 29 watts maximum on 12 or 24 volt systems, with an IPX6 waterproof rating. Browse our selection of radar cables to spec the right run length.

Mount this dome on a mast, hardtop, or radar arch and you have a single antenna that covers everything from tight harbor navigation to long-range storm tracking out to 36 nautical miles. The 510 mm diameter footprint and 5.9 kg weight without cable keep it manageable on smaller hardware. Pair it with the right radar mount for your boat and the correct power and signal cable, and the install is straightforward. If you are still comparing domes, we also stock the Lowrance Halo 24 dome for boats that want extra range. See our full lineup of radar accessories to finish the rig.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum range of the Halo 20+ radar?

The Lowrance Halo 20+ reaches a maximum range of 36 nautical miles. It also performs strongly at close range, with a minimum detection distance of roughly 50 meters, which makes it useful for both harbor navigation and long-range storm tracking from a single dome.

How fast does the Halo 20+ antenna rotate?

The dome rotates at up to 60 revolutions per minute at ranges below 1.5 nautical miles. That fast rotation means close-in returns update almost in real time, which helps with collision avoidance in busy harbors and crowded inshore waters.

What does VelocityTrack Doppler technology do?

VelocityTrack uses Doppler processing to color-code targets based on whether they are moving toward or away from your boat. This gives you an immediate read on which contacts pose a collision risk, on top of standard target tracking for up to 10 targets, or 20 in dual range mode.

Is the Halo 20+ waterproof?

Yes. The dome carries an IPX6 waterproof rating and operates across a temperature range of -25C to +55C (-13F to +130F), so it holds up to heavy spray, rain, and the temperature swings common in coastal and offshore use.

What cable does the Halo 20+ need?

The dome ships without a cable, so you select the run length that fits your boat. We carry the matching power and signal cables in our radar cable selection, available in multiple lengths to reach from the antenna mount to your display and power source.
