The MSD Ignition Atomic TBI TPS Module 0-5 Volt (Part #2939) is a throttle position sensor engineered for Atomic throttle body injection systems. This sensor converts the mechanical position of the throttle blade into a precise 0-5 volt analog signal, allowing the engine control module to monitor throttle input and adjust fuel delivery and ignition timing accordingly. The 0-5V output range is the industry standard for modern EFI systems and ensures compatibility with virtually all standalone and OEM ECU platforms.
Throttle position sensors are critical components in closed-loop fuel management. The Atomic TBI module mounts directly to the throttle body and tracks throttle blade angle from idle through wide-open throttle. Real-world tuning experience shows that a properly calibrated TPS eliminates hesitation during throttle transitions, ensures stable idle control, and allows the ECU to make precise fuel and spark adjustments based on driver input. This module's linear 0-5V response curve integrates seamlessly with both speed-density and MAF-based fuel algorithms.
This sensor is essential for street rods, vintage restorations, and performance vehicles running standalone engine management or late-model EFI conversions. Whether building a carbureted engine retrofit or upgrading an existing Atomic TBI installation, accurate throttle position feedback is non-negotiable for drivability and diagnostics. The modular design allows straightforward replacement without requiring complete system recalibration, though a baseline TPS sweep is recommended during initial setup or troubleshooting.
