The Wilwood Brake Kit Rear Red FDL Drilled 12in for GM G-Body vehicles is a purpose-built performance brake system designed to deliver superior stopping power and thermal management for classic muscle cars and street machines. This complete rear brake kit combines a four-piston forged Dynalite caliper with a 12.19-inch drilled and slotted iron rotor, engineered to replace OEM brake components on 1978–1988 GM G-Body platforms including Chevrolet Monte Carlo, Pontiac Grand Prix, Oldsmobile Cutlass, and Buick Regal models.
The drilled rotor design promotes consistent heat dissipation and reduces brake fade during extended driving or track use, while the slotted geometry helps shed water and contaminants to maintain friction consistency in wet conditions. The four-piston caliper architecture applies pressure across a wider pad area, improving modulation and reducing pedal effort compared to single-piston OEM setups. Red powder-coat finish on the caliper provides both corrosion resistance and high-visibility styling. The complete kit arrives assembled and ready for installation on the rear axle, with all necessary hardware included for direct bolt-on fitment to 12-inch drum brake bosses on eligible G-Body frames.
This brake system is suited for restomod builds, weekend cruisers, and street-driven classics where modern stopping capability enhances safety and driving confidence. Owners upgrading from factory drum or single-piston disc brakes will notice immediate improvement in pedal feel, braking distance, and heat management. The Wilwood Dynalite platform is recognized in the classic car community for proven durability and consistent performance across thousands of installations. Proper brake fluid, pad selection, and system bleeding procedures ensure optimal function post-installation.
