The KEVKO Oil Pans & Components SBC Oil Pan 6qt Street/Strip RH Dipstick 80-85 is a purpose-built rear sump oil pan engineered for small block Chevy engines running street and strip applications. This 6-quart capacity pan delivers the volume needed for sustained high-rpm operation while the 8-inch deep design maximizes crankshaft clearance in tightly packaged engine bays. Built from steel with zinc plating for corrosion resistance, the pan ships as a complete 2-piece seal kit ready for installation.
The removable aluminum windage tray is a critical feature for performance builds. Windage trays reduce crankshaft churning losses by deflecting oil spray away from rotating components, improving power output and reducing operating temperature under load. The right-hand dipstick mounting positions the gauge on the passenger side, a layout common in modified small block Chevy installations where headers and other components consume traditional mounting space. This configuration allows straightforward fluid checks without disassembly or awkward access angles typical of driver-side setups in tight engine bays.
This pan serves builders working on street rods, drag racing platforms, and weekend track cars where reliability and cooling capacity matter equally. The 6-quart sump handles extended heat cycles better than smaller-capacity units, critical for vehicles without auxiliary cooling systems. At 12.75 pounds, the zinc-plated steel construction provides durability for repeated fill cycles and aggressive driving while remaining lighter than cast iron alternatives. The KEVKO design fits 1980–1985 small block Chevy installations where rear-sump geometry is required, making it an essential upgrade for engine swaps and performance rebuilds in that chassis generation.
