Description

NMEA2000 Network Lightning Detector

TALOS, the global leader in lightning detection, announces the release of the SFD-1000-N2K Lightning Detector, specifically designed for the marine industry. Designed to be fully NMEA 2000 compliant, the SFD-1000-N2K integrates seamlessly with the NMEA 2000 CAN bus and displays warning alerts across all the vessel’s MFD screens. The SFD-1000-N2K can be installed during the boat-building process or as an aftermarket added feature to safeguard against the life-threatening dangers of lightning.

This version is engineered to be embedded within the boat, hidden from sight, and integrated into the NMEA 2000 network – the best part is NO DRILLING NEEDED! No external power or wiring is needed. Just plug and play to the N2K network!

Both visual and audible alerts indicate the distance of lightning strikes (from 25 nautical miles away and closer) and detect both cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-ground lightning strikes, departing or approaching.

Features:

  • Detection of both cloud-to-ground and cloud-to-ground lightning activity within a 25-mile range
  • Plug-and-play connectivity
  • Alerts are given via the NMEA2000 digital network
  • The same technology used in expensive weather stations
  • 3 different alert messages
  • 25 nautical miles
  • 16 nautical miles
  • 5 nautical miles
  • All clear message after 30 minutes of no lightning strikes
  • Low cost
