The RCBS 3-Die Roll Crimp Set for .56-50 Spencer Legacy ammunition is purpose-built for handloaders working with straight-wall rifle cartridges. This three-die set combines precision sizing, proper case expansion, and controlled bullet seating with roll crimp technology—delivering the consistency required for both historical rifle shooting and modern legacy cartridge applications.
The set includes a hardened steel Sizer Die that reduces fired cases to SAAMI specification and removes spent primers in a single stroke. Cases must be lubricated before sizing to protect the die and ensure smooth operation. The Expander Die enlarges the case mouth to proper diameter for bullet acceptance and imparts the necessary bell or flare at the case mouth—critical for reliable bullet feeding in lever-action and other straight-wall rifle platforms. The Seater Die seats the bullet to exact depth while simultaneously applying roll crimp, securing the bullet without deforming the case sidewall. Roll crimping is the standard method for straight-wall cartridges where bullet retention under recoil demands a mechanical lock between case and projectile.
This setup is essential for shooters reloading the .56-50 Spencer, a historic Civil War–era cartridge still favored by black-powder rifle enthusiasts and collectors. Whether you're developing loads for accuracy testing, preparing ammunition for period-correct competition, or maintaining a functional Spencer rifle, this RCBS die set delivers the three-stage control needed for safe, consistent ammunition. RCBS dies are manufactured to close tolerances and are compatible with standard single-stage and progressive reloading presses.
