The Kel-Tec PMR30 threaded barrel (MPN PMR505) replaces the stock barrel on the PMR30 .22 Magnum pistol and adds a muzzle device to tame the platform's snappy follow-up shots. This is a factory upgrade for PMR30 owners who want a threaded muzzle and the reduced muzzle rise that comes with the included brake. The barrel measures 5 inches, with an overall length of 5 5/8 inches once the muzzle device is fitted. It carries a 3/8" x 24 thread pattern. Kel-Tec requires the swap be done at their warranty facility because of revision changes to the PMR30 upper assembly, which keeps fit and function correct.
The thread pattern here is 3/8" x 24, which is specific to the PMR30 and differs from the common pistol threads found on 9mm and .45 barrels. The included muzzle device works as a brake, redirecting gas to cut muzzle rise so the sights settle faster between shots. Note Kel-Tec's position on suppressors: because of the PMR30's unique locking action and lightweight slide and barrel, running a can or other heavy muzzle device is not recommended. Doing so increases gas volume and pressure, can unlock the slide early, and may push gas and residue back toward the shooter or cause a case rupture.
