The COMP CAMS 3122TB is a moly-coated roller thrust bearing plate built for big-block Ford applications, including the 351C and the 429-460 family. It controls camshaft thrust at the front of the engine, holding the cam in proper fore-and-aft position under load. Builders running a roller cam or a high-spring-pressure valvetrain rely on this kind of hardware to keep thrust clearance in spec and to stop the timing gear from chewing into the block. This thrust bearing plate uses a 3-piece design specific to Ford engines, with the roller thrust bearing carrying the axial load instead of letting the cam gear ride directly against the block face. That construction does two jobs at once: it lets you set proper cam thrust clearance during assembly, and it eliminates gear-to-block wear that shows up on high-mileage or high-rpm Ford builds. The moly surface also reduces stress on the camshaft and timing set, which matters most when you pair it with a stout cam and a precision timing set.
