Description

The Cam Break-In Additive w/Zinc - Case of 12 is an essential engine treatment designed for builders and performance enthusiasts who are breaking in a new or freshly rebuilt camshaft and lifter set. This additive is crucial during the initial miles of operation, where cam lobes and lifter faces experience accelerated wear as they establish proper surface finishes and seating patterns.

Formulated by COMP Cams, this break-in additive delivers zinc (zinc dialkyldithiophosphate or ZDDP) and other anti-wear agents directly into your engine oil. It creates a protective boundary layer on cam lobe and lifter surfaces, preventing metal-to-metal contact and reducing friction under extreme heat and pressure. One quart of this additive treats approximately 5–6 quarts of oil, ensuring optimal protection during the critical break-in period.

This additive is particularly beneficial for flat-tappet cam designs and high-lift applications where contact pressures are significant. It is compatible with both conventional and synthetic oils, making it a versatile choice for modern engines that may use low-zinc oils. Builders can rely on this product to safeguard their engine builds throughout the entire break-in cycle.
