The Griffin Armament QD Blast Shield is a quick-detach blast diverter built for shooters running short-barrel rifles where concussion and side blast punish both the operator and anyone standing nearby. It threads onto Griffin's Gate-Lok mounts in 5.56mm and 7.62mm and redirects concussive force forward, away from the firing line. At 8.78 ounces and 3.38 inches overall, it adds little length while taming the worst of the muzzle blast on compact platforms. Anyone building or shooting an SBR, pistol-caliber carbine, or short AR will find this a practical addition to their rifle parts setup.
Construction is 17-4PH stainless steel with welded fabrication and a melonite QPQ finish for corrosion and heat resistance. The fluted body trims weight while improving rigidity and heat dissipation under sustained fire. Overall length runs 3.38 inches, with a 1.5-inch outside diameter at both the blast area and the locking section. The quick-detach mechanism is fast, positive, and wear-free, letting an end user reconfigure muzzle device function without tools. It mounts to Griffin Gate-Lok devices including the Flash Comp, Hammer Comp, and Stealth Flash Hider, and accepts USGI A2-spec muzzle devices. It handles 5.56mm and 7.62mm calibers up to and including 9mm cartridges. Each unit ships with a shim set and an over-travel stop washer. It is not compatible with BCM, BCE, or PWS muzzle devices.
