Description

The RCBS Summit Single Stage Press flips the usual reloading layout on its head. Instead of pushing the case up into the die, the case stays put on the base while the die descends onto it through a compound linkage. That single design choice gives handloaders full frontal access through a 4.5-inch opening and keeps the shell holder stationary so powder charges stay visible during the stroke. It's built for precision-minded shooters who load methodically rather than at volume, and it works for both right- and left-handed operators thanks to its ambidextrous frame. If you want repeatable, accurate handloads, this is a serious bench tool.

The Summit runs a cast iron frame with steel linkage and a 2-inch diameter solid steel ram polished to a mirror finish, which keeps deflection to a minimum under heavy sizing loads. The C-frame mounts anywhere on the bench because there's no below-bench linkage to clear, so you can position it however your workspace demands. It accepts standard 7/8"-14 threaded dies out of the box, and removing the included adapter bushing opens it up to 1-1/4"-12 dies. A press adapter bushing ships with the unit for 1-inch die bodies. RCBS also fits a Zerk fitting for lubrication and a spent primer catcher. At roughly 20 to 21 pounds, the Summit plants itself firmly and stays where you set it.

Reach for the Summit when you're working up match loads, full-length sizing rifle brass, or any task where consistency matters more than throughput. The top-down geometry and visible powder column make it well suited to careful, one-case-at-a-time work. Compare it against other heavy single stage options like the RCBS Rebel or the Forster Co-Ax if you want a sense of where it sits in the lineup. Frequently Asked Questions

How is the RCBS Summit different from a standard single stage press?

On a conventional press the case rises into a fixed die. The Summit reverses that: the case stays stationary on the base and the die descends onto it through a compound linkage. This gives you full frontal access through a 4.5-inch opening and keeps the powder charge visible during each stroke.

What dies does the Summit accept?

The Summit takes standard 7/8"-14 threaded dies as shipped. Remove the included reducing bushing and it accepts 1-1/4"-12 dies. A press adapter bushing comes with the unit to handle 1-inch die bodies, so you can run a wide range of die sizes on one frame.

Is the Summit suitable for left-handed reloaders?

Yes. RCBS designed the Summit with an ambidextrous frame, so it works the same whether you operate the handle right- or left-handed. The C-frame also mounts anywhere on the bench because there is no below-bench linkage to clear.

How much does the RCBS Summit weigh?

The Summit weighs approximately 20 to 21 pounds. That mass comes from its cast iron frame and 2-inch solid steel ram, which keep the press planted on the bench and minimize flex during heavy full-length sizing operations.
