This jig is designed specifically for Apex Grade semi drop-in barrels for Smith & Wesson M&P and M&P M2.0 pistols in 9mm. Apex has not tested it for use with other aftermarket barrels, so compatibility with non-Apex barrels cannot be guaranteed.
The jig holds the barrel in two positions critical to proper fitting. Orientation one positions the barrel top-down for hood length trimming. Orientation two positions it for filing the bottom lockup surface. Both adjustments affect how the barrel engages the slide.
The underside of the jig is machined flat specifically to clamp securely in standard bench vise jaws. This provides a stable work platform while you file the barrel. A quality vise with adequate clamping pressure is recommended for best results.
While Apex Grade barrels are semi drop-in, most require some hand fitting for optimal lockup. This jig ensures the barrel is held at correct angles during filing, making the fitting process more precise and repeatable than improvised methods.
