The Acraglas Gel Bedding Kit is a two-part epoxy compound built for bedding a barreled action into a rifle stock, whether that stock is wood or synthetic. It is aimed at shooters and gunsmiths who want to tighten up groups by removing wood-to-metal movement and vibration between the action and the stock. The gel-consistency formula sets it apart from runnier liquid compounds: it stays where you put it, fills gaps and inconsistencies, and cures to a hard, dimensionally stable finish that bonds without pins or mechanical fasteners. For a precision bedding job, this is one of the proven options in the field.
The kit ships with 2 fl. oz. (59 ml) of resin, 2 fl. oz. (59 ml) of hardener, and 7/8 fl. oz. (26 ml) of release agent, mixed at an error-proof 1-to-1 ratio by volume. The gel carries nylon constituents that add thin-section strength and shock resistance, and it cures with minimal shrinkage so the bedding holds its dimensions under recoil. The compound is oil, acid, and solvent proof once cured, and it can be metalized by blending in aluminum, steel, or stainless particles to match the surrounding metal. An extended pot life gives you working time during layup, and the longer cure window leaves room to trim excess before it fully hardens. Complete instructions are included in the kit. Made in the U.S.A. per manufacturer specifications.
Use this kit when you are skim-bedding a recoil lug, pillar bedding a hunting rifle, or filling an inletted stock around the action to lock everything into a single repeatable position. The butter-smooth consistency makes it forgiving on vertical surfaces and tight inlet channels where a thin liquid would run or drip. Apply release agent to every metal surface you do not want bonded, clamp the action, and let it cure. Pair it with the rest of our gunsmithing supplies in our tools section, including a deburring tool for cleaning up inlet edges before layup.
The compound mixes at a 1-to-1 ratio by volume, combining 2 fl. oz. of resin with 2 fl. oz. of hardener. The 50/50 measurement is designed to be error-proof, so you get a consistent cure without precise scales or guesswork on every batch.
It bonds to both wood and synthetic stocks. The two-part epoxy fills inconsistencies between the stock and barreled action on either material, eliminating movement and vibration and curing to a hard, dimensionally stable finish without pins or fasteners.
Yes. The gel is easily metalized by blending in aluminum, steel, or stainless steel particles, so the cured compound can match the surrounding metal. Once cured, it is also oil, acid, and solvent proof.
Acraglas Gel has an extended pot life for easier application and a longer cure time, which leaves a window to trim excess compound before it fully hardens. The included release agent keeps the bedding from bonding to surfaces you want to keep free.
The gel has a butter-smooth consistency that will not run or drip, which makes it easier to control on vertical surfaces and in tight inlet channels. It also cures with minimal shrinkage and adds nylon constituents for greater thin-section strength and shock resistance.
