Description

The Allstar Performance ALL18220 Cleco Pliers are a single-purpose tool built to install and remove Cleco fasteners, the spring-loaded pins that clamp two sheets of metal together while you drill and rivet. Anyone doing panel work, race car fabrication, or sheet metal assembly knows the routine: drill a pilot hole, set a pin, hold the panels in alignment, and move down the seam. These pliers compress the Cleco's internal spring so the pin seats clean and pulls back out without fighting it. They're sold individually, so most fabricators keep several on the bench alongside a handful of pins.

Allstar Performance builds these from steel with a zinc oxide finish that resists corrosion in a shop environment. The pliers measure 12.05 inches long, 4.1 inches wide, and 0.85 inches high, and tip the scale around 0.58 to 0.62 lbs per manufacturer specifications. The spring-loaded jaw design does the work of compressing the Cleco pin's plunger, then releasing it so the fastener locks into the drilled hole. Cleco pins work with sheet metal stacks up to 1/4 inch thick, which covers the bulk of body panel and bracket fabrication. The pins themselves are reusable and sold separately, so a single set of pliers services any quantity of fasteners you run through a job. Note that this product carries a California Prop 65 warning.

Reach for these when you're fitting body panels, fabricating brackets, or aligning sheet metal before final fastening. Cleco pins hold everything square while you drill matching holes or run rivets, then the pliers strip them back out when you're ready to commit. If you're stocking a fabrication bench, pair these with the rest of our shop tools and equipment, including a hand rivet gun for closing out the seams you've held with Cleco pins, and a hole saw kit for the larger cutouts panel work demands.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Cleco pliers used for?

Cleco pliers compress the spring inside a Cleco fastener so the pin can be installed into or removed from a drilled hole. The pins clamp two pieces of sheet metal together temporarily while you drill matching holes or set rivets, then strip back out for final assembly.

Do these pliers come with Cleco pins?

No. The ALL18220 pliers are sold individually, and the Cleco pins are sold separately. Most fabricators keep one or two sets of pliers and a quantity of reusable pins matched to the sheet metal job they're running.

What size sheet metal do Cleco fasteners work with?

Allstar Performance Cleco pins are rated for sheet metal stacks up to 1/4 inch thick per manufacturer specifications, which covers most body panel, bracket, and fabrication work.

What are these Cleco pliers made of?

They're built from steel with a protective zinc oxide finish that resists corrosion in a shop setting. The tool measures 12.05 inches long and weighs roughly 0.58 to 0.62 lbs.

Are Cleco pins reusable?

Yes. Cleco fasteners are a reusable system designed for repeated temporary connections. Once you've finished riveting or final-fastening a seam, the pliers release the pins so you can pull them and use them again on the next job.
