They suit street and strip cars where the headers came with a 3-inch collector but the rest of the system runs 2-1/2-inch tubing. These reducers are built from heavy gauge steel, with the large end measuring 3 inches and the small end 2-1/2 inches. The collector side uses a 3-inch floating ring with a 3-bolt (tri-bolt) flange, which lets the ring rotate to line up the bolt holes against your header collector flange. That floating design takes the guesswork out of clocking the bolt pattern, so you are not fighting alignment during install. The tri-bolt flange pattern matches standard 3-inch header collectors, and the gasket-style mating surface seals against a collector gasket.
